We are pleased to announce that Yant Equipment based in Omaha and having four outlets has become a regional distributor in Nebraska for DURAFLO DEF Dispensing Equipment. This is a fine addition to help meet the needs of customers in that area. It has finally happened. The regulations are now including farm and construction equipment with diesel engines and the need for DEF in farm and construction applications is on the rise. Most, at least initially, will only need to have pumps to transfer the fluid from drums. This will expand to totes for some as the number of units operated increases, but for portability, this will fit the bill for an extended period of time. We have drum and tote pumps that can be used effectively if 110 power is available. These units can be run off an inverter attached to a vehicle battery successfully. However, in the fall DURAFLO will be offering a rechargeable lithium ion battery operated motor for the 5 GPM drum or tote pumps we sell. Check back then for more information.

DURAFLO DEF DISPENSING Systems and equipment will be the feature of the American Controls, Inc. booth at McCormack Place for the NACS/PEI SHOW starting next weekend. You will find us in booth 7189 in the PEI section of the show floor. American Controls, Inc. is proud to announce that they have delivered DURAFLO outdoor DEF storage and dispense units for  two freight yard  locations (one in upstate New York and the other outside Boston).  Each unit includes a stainless steel tank with full monitoring, a DEF pump connected to a wieghts and measures approved DEF meter with pulsed output, a DEF hose reel and nozzle.  The piping is stainless steel and all equipment enclosed in an insulated and heated containment for weather protection designed to handle New England winters.  Each unit is prepared for connection to a fuel monitoring system for the customers convenience.  Simple installation is completed by anchoring the unit to a concrete base and connecting 110V power, they wiring to the fuel monitoring system.  Simple plug and play.

There is a wide range of prices for bottled DEF in the current marketplace.  For users, it is critical to assure the proper fluid is being used and not a “similar” fluid with possible chemical contamination that could cause premature catalyst failure on their vehicles.  This will be extremely expensive.

Users should be aware that API (the American Petroleum Institute) is the agency certifying the product.  Currently there is no law that requires DEF producers to get this certification nor even to require them to meet the ISO standard for DEF.  However, to assure that the fluid is properly produced, one can check the producers listed on the API web site at  http://www.apidef.org/searchresults.asp which presents those who are certified.

This information needs to be highlighted as part of the user education which is sorely needed regarding SCR Technology and the fluid.  If you are using DEF make sure the product has the API certification mark on the label (not something that looks similar to the mark) before you buy or pour it into your DEF tank.

You may have seen articles about the fact that businesses are beginning to install underground tanks for DEF.  DURAFLO/ACI has provided two immersible pumps for use in these installations through PEI distributors.  This is happening much sooner than expected as the primary thinking was that the market would be concentrated around drum and tote applications, then proceeding toward Mini-bulk above ground systems.  It seems that the leap has occurred and the underground option is active.

American Controls, Inc. will again present our DURAFLO DEF dispensing equipment and systems at the NACS SHOW in Atlanta October 6-8, 2010. We will be in BOOTH 815 in the PEI section of the show. Last year we had many interesting inquiries and discussions. This year with an increasing number of SCR equipped vehicles on the streets and highways, we expect even more discussion. Our products are especially targeted toward use by Transit Systems, Municipal Fleets and Private Fleets for refilling the vehicle DEF tanks. Be sure to stop by the booth to say hello.

(FTI) last week signed a memorandum of understanding making ACI the DEF Product distributor for FTI Drum and Tote pumps and systems for 7 North Mid-Western States.  This is a fine addition to the line of Products being offered by ACI under their DURAFLO brand of specialized products for Diesel Emission Fluid (AUS 32) dispensing.  DURAFLO systems are designed to provide safe, dependable, efficient and effective units to suit the municipal, fleet and diesel maintenance facility specific dispensing needs.  We are pleased and proud to have been selected by Finish Thompson, Inc. for this opportunity.
